This policy explains what information charterfishingboat.com collects, why, where it goes and how long we keep it. The site is published by OneLabs LLC ("we", "us"). It describes what the site actually does today; if that changes, we'll update this page before the change goes live.
The short version
- You can browse the whole site without giving us anything.
- We don't use cookies, analytics or advertising trackers, and we don't sell or rent personal information.
- We only receive personal details you choose to send through a form.
- When you tap a captain's phone number we count the tap, with no IP address, cookie or visitor ID attached.
Information you send us
Contact form
We receive your name, email address, the topic you pick and your message. The form is delivered to our email inbox through Amazon Web Services (Amazon SES). We use it only to reply to you and act on your request. We don't store contact form messages anywhere else.
Captain forms (claim, correct, add or remove a listing)
We receive what you enter: your name, email address, phone number and role, and the business details you give us, such as trips, prices, boat details, departure point, payment methods, policies and permit information. We also record the date and time and the IP address the form was sent from, which helps us spot fake or abusive submissions. Each submission is saved in a private Amazon Web Services storage bucket and emailed to us for review. Nothing you submit is published until a person reviews it.
Photos
Photos uploaded through the captain form go straight to the same private storage. They are not published. If we add photos to listings later, we'll ask before publishing yours.
Information collected automatically
- Call-button taps. When you tap a captain's phone number on a listing, your browser tells us which listing and which page, and whether you were on a phone or a computer. We store that with the time. We don't store your IP address, and nothing identifies you. We use the counts to understand which listings people contact.
- Hosting. The site is served by Amazon Web Services (Amazon CloudFront). Like any web server, it receives your IP address and browser details in order to deliver pages. We don't switch on access logging, so we don't keep a record of your visits. Amazon may process request data to run and protect its network under its own privacy notice.
- Error logs. If one of our forms fails, a technical error message is written to Amazon's logging service so we can fix it.
- No cookies or local storage. The site doesn't set cookies or save data in your browser.
Other services your browser connects to
- Google Fonts. Pages load their typefaces from Google, so your browser connects to Google's servers, which receive your IP address. See Google's privacy policy.
- NOAA tides. On town pages, when you pick a date for tides, your browser asks NOAA's Tides and Currents service directly.
- Charter websites. Listings link to charters' own websites and phone numbers. Those businesses handle your information under their own policies, not this one.
How we use information
- To reply to messages and act on requests.
- To review, correct, add or remove listings.
- To keep the site and its forms working and free of abuse.
- To understand, in aggregate, how people use listings.
We don't use your information for advertising, and we don't sell it, rent it or share it for anyone's marketing.
Who we share it with
- Service providers who run parts of the site for us: Amazon Web Services (hosting, form delivery, storage and logs) and Google (our email inbox is hosted by Gmail, and Google Fonts as described above).
- If the law requires it, for example in response to a valid legal order, or to protect people's safety or the site from fraud or abuse.
- If the business changes hands, the site's data would move with it, still covered by this policy.
How long we keep it
- Contact form emails: as long as we need them to deal with your request, then deleted on request.
- Captain submissions and photos: kept as the record of changes to a listing while the listing exists, or until you ask us to delete them.
- Call-button taps: kept as counts for as long as they're useful. They don't identify anyone.
Business listings
Listings show business information that charters publish on their own websites, such as the business name, phone number, website and the trips and fish they list. If you run a charter and want your listing corrected or removed, use the update a listing page or our contact form.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us to tell you what information we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it. Send the request through our contact form. We'll confirm it comes from you, for example by replying to the email address you give, and respond within 30 days. We won't treat you differently for making a request. Because the site doesn't track you, there's nothing to opt out of for browser signals such as Global Privacy Control, and we honour them by default.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS. Form submissions and photos are kept in private storage that isn't publicly reachable, and access is limited to the people who run the site. No system is perfectly secure, so please don't send sensitive information such as payment card or government ID numbers through our forms.
Children
The site isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has sent us information, tell us through the contact form and we'll delete it.
Changes to this policy
We'll post any change on this page with a new date, and before the change takes effect.
