1. Finding charters
We start from public business listings for fishing charters in each town. That tells us a business may exist. We don't publish anything from those listings on its own.
2. Confirming contact details
We visit the charter's own website and confirm two things are there:
- the phone number we list, and
- the business name we list.
If either is missing, the charter isn't shown. Each listing shows the month we checked it, for example "Contact checked Sep 2026".
3. Removing duplicates
When two listings share the same website and phone number, we treat them as one business and show it once.
4. People review the results
Before a batch of listings goes live, a person compares a sample of them against the captains' websites. If the sample shows errors, the batch waits until they're fixed.
5. Trip details
Some pages may show the kinds of trips a charter runs, the boat or the fish they target. We show a detail only when it appears on the charter's own website and has passed the same checks. When we're not sure, we leave it out.
What we don't check
We don't check licenses, insurance, safety records, availability or prices. Ask the captain about those before you book.
