CharterFishingBoat is a free directory to help you find a fishing charter and plan a trip. Please read this before you rely on anything here.
We don't run, book or vet charters
- We don't operate or book trips. Every trip, price, deposit and refund is between you and the charter.
- We don't vet captains. We confirm a charter's contact details on its own website. We don't check captain licenses, insurance, vessel inspections, safety equipment, experience or reviews. Ask the captain, and ask to see documents if they matter to you.
- A listing isn't an endorsement. The order of charters on a page is not a rating or a recommendation, and no charter pays to be listed or placed higher.
- Trip details come from the charter. Trip types, fish, boat size and group size are taken from what each charter says on its own website. They may be out of date.
Fishing rules change
- Seasons, size limits and bag limits on this site are copied from FWC and NOAA Fisheries, with the date we checked them on each page. Agencies change rules at short notice, sometimes mid-season.
- They are general information, not legal advice, and we are not a regulatory authority. Confirm the current rule with your captain, FWC or NOAA Fisheries before you keep a fish.
- Which rule applies can depend on where you fish (state or federal water, Gulf or Atlantic, a specific region) and on the permits the boat holds.
- Fish illustrations are artwork. Don't rely on them to identify a fish before keeping it.
Permits and records
- Federal charter permit information comes from NOAA Fisheries Southeast permit records, matched to a listing by the vessel's name, as listed on the date shown. A match is not proof that a particular trip is permitted. Ask the captain.
- Florida state records come from FWC and can be broken at any time.
Weather, water and travel
- Water temperature, air temperature and rainy days are long-term NOAA averages. Tides are NOAA predictions. None of it is a forecast, and none of it predicts how good the fishing will be.
- Check the current marine forecast before you go, and follow the captain's decision on weather.
- Airport distances are straight-line miles from the centre of town, not driving distances.
Safety
Fishing and boating carry real risks. Follow the captain's safety briefing, wear a life jacket when asked, tell the captain about medical conditions, and consider seasickness before a long offshore trip. Children's life jacket sizes, restrooms and shade vary by boat, so ask before you book.
